Strengthening Education Starts with Teachers

Indiana is experiencing a teacher shortage. Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz wants to change that, so she created the Blue Ribbon Commission on the Recruitment and Retention of Excellent Educators. The commission proposed common sense ways to keep our best teachers and to draw our best students into the profession.

“ We must ensure that our best and brightest are drawn to the teaching profession so that we can continue to strengthen our education system moving forward.”

Unfortunately, in the last session, the Legislature did not take up the commission’s recommendations. That’s not the end of the battle, though! Ritz vows to bring back the recommendations and to implement any recommendations that don’t require legislative approval.

At Elevate Teachers, we believe that teachers deserve our respect and support. We love seeing our elected officials acknowledge that supporting teachers will strengthen our education system. If we, as private citizens, show teachers that we appreciate them, too, we’ll be well on our way to making education better!
