New Fundraising Campaign Helps Teachers Connect with Families and the Carnegie Corporation of New York launched a new fundraising campaign this week to help teachers hold “family engagement nights” to foster more collaborative relationships with their communities. The website has helped educators raise money for classroom supplies for nearly 20 years.

To participate in the campaign, teachers create a project proposal with a wish list of goods they need for their “family engagement night.” If they’re approved and the goal is met, the site’s staff will order the requested goods and mail them to the teacher. Carnegie will match what teachers raise themselves.

The organization hopes to have projects completed by the end of February, when the parents and community members who take part in the activities will fill out a survey to determine which programs make an impact. Those who fill out the information right after the activity will be able to choose a project in their school or district to get some additional funding.

At Elevate Teachers, we know that there’s rarely extra money laying around for teachers to try new things, and we’re always excited to see organizations supporting teachers attempting to improve the lives of their students.
