Fighting Teacher Burnout

We were recently sent a blog post suggesting ways to reduce teacher burnout. The blogger, Dan Skognes, explains that teachers regularly work nights and weekends putting together lesson plans, emailing parents, and grading papers, causing these teachers to be exhausted and underpaid.

To address this issue, Skognes suggests increasing pay, having volunteers for extra duties like lunchroom and recess supervision, giving special perks to teachers who work with difficult students, increasing recess time, and more.

At Elevate Teachers, we’re always encouraged when people recognize the fact that teachers are often overworked and underpaid. We hope to continue to see suggestions for supporting teachers and improving the way they’re treated.
