Teachers in the U.S. Face the Largest Wage Gap

The Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation recently released data about educational indicators across more than two dozen industrialized countries. This data shows that while American teachers earn more than teachers in other countries, they deal with the biggest wage gap compared to others with their education level in the same country.

The study also shows that educators in the United States work about 270 more hours per year than those in other countries, and over half of states are spending less on education than they did before the Great Recession.

At Elevate Teachers, we’re saddened to see the statistics on teacher salary in our country. We hope that this study leads people to understand the importance of supporting teachers and decreasing the wage gap between education and other professions.
