In a recent opinion piece on Edweek.org by Katy Fenn, "Educating Stewards of the Earth," the guest blogger discusses the importance of highlighting environmental studies in the classroom.
Throughout the post she shares staggering statistics about the state of many endangered species and what has contributed to the shocking decline of animals and their habitats. Her vision is to move beyond the standard recycling lesson plans and to add more instruction on topics centered around understanding current conservation efforts and recognizing sustainable products. She suggests bringing the new concepts to the students in relatable lessons to have a positive impact on our global environment in the future.
We at Elevate Teachers love the idea of taking a fresh approach to curriculum!
